Christian Service – "the duty one performs at the command of a superior for the benefit of another." Christians are called to a life of service to the Lord Jesus Christ and much of this life of service is spent in serving others. From the giving of a cup of water, to showing hospitality, to remembering those in prison, to providing for the needy, to mentoring others, are all acts of service performed for the benefit of others. Christian service is a life-style that ministers simply and faithfully without discrimination because there is a need. Christian service is always looking for ways to serve others, not for ways it can be served. Everything Christian service is aimed at serving others by meeting their needs which is one of the most basic concepts of all Christian ministries. Sometimes Christians tend to separate their service to God and their service to others. They tend to forget that the majority of their service to God is done in their interactions with other people. True Christian service will always show in its works toward others. This is the pattern of life that Jesus exemplified when He left the glories of heaven and came to earth to serve sinful man and die for their sins. (Luke 10:45), "For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."
